இன்னா மொழிதும் என்ப;
With twigs of sparse-crested branches stripped of leaves and withered, / appearing as if enveloped in nets, in a wasteland place / enclosed all over by spiders, / where in the fiercely hot saline waste waving and shimmering in the sun / as if spreads were stretched out, fine works of cloth, / the ripe, deep-colored black fruits like sapphire beads / after mature colorful berries resembling eyes of a koel / drop from tender branches of the ugā tree and perish, / in the hot wasteland of summer, alone / he is going, they say, friend! As for us, / like calves tied up separated from their mothers by unkind cowherds, / aching and aching inside, / we utter painful words, they say; / what has bewildered him, our lover?
