White-headed waves, resembling elders,
destroy the playhouses drawn in the sand by the young
at the beautiful wide shore of the grove where the clustered screwpine unfolds;
you do not know that she was confined within the house
as scandal arose over the union that reached only a few ears.
Towards you, who suffer with a bewildered heart
upon your chest as broad as a chariot, which does not grieve with newly swelling breasts,
how can I say, 'Depart'?
Even if it were the market-town of the black-eyed Kōcar,
whose faces bear scars made by iron blades,
endowed with new wealth, to the east of Cellūr where the god of rare power resides,
echoing the roar of the great ocean,
they would not accept it, saying, 'It is sufficient'—
as the price for the fresh leaf-garment of this young woman with a fragrant forehead!
