So that our kin's distress is relieved and relations are satisfied, / so that those not related become our close companions and walk with us, / with enterprise matching effort, thriving in enthusiasm, / like obtaining rare jewels from Uṟantai of the righteous, good assembly / belonging to the battle-conquering Cōḻas wearing garland chaplets, / having finished our difficult mission in this realm— / shall we go, O heart, to embrace her / so that her lovely chest is imprinted with scars from ornaments, / in a raised couch on a soft flower-bed looking like gathered foam, / within a sky-scraping tall mansion that seems carved of rock, / in the light of a tall burning lamp, / with the dark-complexioned maiden of long, black tresses / whose fragrant forehead smells like the morning market / of Kūṭal belonging to Vaḻuti of unfading neem, / with an opposing army that overcame many fortresses— / for days more numerous than the sands / heaped on the high banks of clear waters in the front ghat / of Karuvūr, the auspicious, vast city of Kōtai / of tall chariots and fierce rutting bull elephants, / whose terrifying broad trunks never fail to seize men, / approaching close and striking the earth with heroic strength / as rut runs gleaming down striped foreheads and enters their mouths, / by the cold Porunai river that never fails?
