Like the sun, indeed, is his brilliance, for whom this [Pravargya] is performed. At that time, all the deities look forward to the adhvaryu’s curd-gharma: ‘He will draw for me, he will draw for me!’ The deities yearn for him; [if left] without a share, they would be capable of harming him. When he draws with these two [formulas] containing all deities, ‘Whom Indra...’ and ‘As many as...’, he makes the deities share-holders for the non-injury of himself. He who knows thus attains the full lifespan. He offers five oblations with: ‘To Puṣan, the glowing, hail!’ Puṣan is Rudra; Rudra is glowing. These indeed are the fierce names of Rudra. When about to perform the udvāsana, he buys him off from all the deities. He who knows thus attains the full lifespan. ‘O Gharma, what heat of yours is in heaven, what in the Jagatī meter, what in the seventeenfold stoma, what in the havirdhāna shed, that of yours I appease with this: to it, hail!’ Thus he buys Rudra off from that [world], from the Jagatī meter, from the seventeenfold stoma, and from the havirdhāna shed. He who knows thus attains the full lifespan. ‘O Gharma, what heat of yours is in the intermediate space, what in the Triṣṭubh meter, what in the fifteenfold stoma, what in the fire-kindler's shed, that of yours I appease with this: to it, hail!’ Thus he buys Rudra off from the intermediate space, from the Triṣṭubh meter, from the fifteenfold stoma, and from the fire-kindler's shed. He who knows thus attains the full lifespan. ‘O Gharma, what heat of yours is on earth, what in the Gāyatrī meter, what in the ninefold stoma, what in the sadas shed, that of yours I appease with this: to it, hail!’ Thus he buys Rudra off from this [earth], from the Gāyatrī meter, from the ninefold stoma, and from the sadas shed. He who knows thus attains the full lifespan. He offers when it is set down, with: ‘Favor us today, O Anumati!’ This [earth] is Anumati; this [earth] is the firm foundation; thus he stands firmly on it. First he fills it with honey. That indeed is his dear abode; he prospers him with that very thing. [...] they lead him upward toward the east.
