O students of sacred lore! That which is Brahmā, and then indeed that which is his sattva-portion—that, O students of sacred lore, is Viṣṇu. He, being one, became threefold, eightfold, elevenfold, twelvefold, or arose in boundless ways. Because of having arisen, he, the being, moves entered into beings; he became the overlord of beings. That is this Self, both inside and outside, inside and outside.
