As they two were returning, [someone] went up and said: 'The boy about whom you said: "Cover him over in the baking-pit!"—here he lies covered over in the baking-pit.'
They two thought it, as it were, improper.
They two desired: 'May we go from here, may we find a path, a protector; may this boy live in comfort.'
He, Purumīḍha, saw this sāman.
He praised with it:
'Extol fire for assistance with songs, him of keen splendor, / Purumīḍha, [extol] Agni, famous for wealth, O men!'
'What, indeed, is the boy's name?'
'Sudīti by name.'
With 'Agni [provides] shelter for Sudīti,' he just touched him.
Exhausted, he recovered.
With this finale, 'for vigor,' he stirred him.
Vigor, indeed, is the breaths.
He then placed the breaths in him.
This is a path-finding, protector-finding sāman.
Indeed, he found that path and protector.
He finds a path and a protector who knows thus.
And since Purumīḍha saw it, therefore it is called the Paurumīḍha with the dakṣa finale.
