Just when he saw [the verse beginning with] 'pra', then he struck him.
He slays his hateful rival who knows thus.
And because he saw [the verse beginning with] 'pra', therefore it is called the Pramaṃhiṣṭhīya.
One whose [rivals] might be partly unconquered should use the Satrāsāhīya.
Indra conquered the Asuras.
Some of them he did not conquer.
He desired: 'May I conquer all the Asuras together (satrā).'
He saw this sāman.
With it he praised.
With it he conquered all the Asuras together.
In that he conquered all the Asuras together, that is the Satrāsāhīya-nature of the Satrāsāhīya.
He conquers his hateful rival altogether who knows thus.
One desirous of the office of domestic priest should use the Daivodāsa.
The Brahmin belongs to Agni; the noble belongs to Indra.
This sāman belongs to Agni and Indra.
Brahman is Agni; nobility is Indra.
With brahman he sustained nobility, and with nobility, brahman.
Thus the kingdom does not depart from him; he attains the office of domestic priest; they place him in front.
