They purchase the Soma with a cow possessing marked ears. As something is mounted on each ear, so is the Ṣoḍaśin among the chants. Saying, 'Together we purchase the Ṣoḍaśin,' they purchase the Ṣoḍaśin in that the cow that purchases the Soma possesses marked ears. By that very fact their Ṣoḍaśin is purchased, by that it is secured. They purchase the Soma with a cow possessing marked ears; they cause Soma to remain over from pressing to pressing; they chant on [verses] containing the word 'jan'; all the ritual forms are recited. In that they purchase the Soma with a cow possessing marked ears, the sacrificer thereby generates it. In that they cause Soma to remain over from pressing to pressing, the Adhvaryu thereby generates it. In that they chant on [verses] containing the word 'jan', the Udgātṛ thereby generates it. In that all ritual forms are recited, the Hotṛ thereby generates it. These indeed are the births of the Ṣoḍaśin. He is propagated with offspring and cattle who knows thus.
