Fiery energy surpassed Indra. He said to the gods: 'How may fiery energy not surpass me?' The All-Gods said to him: 'We shall praise you with a formula containing [the word] "hari"; thus fiery energy will not surpass you.' The All-Gods praised him with a formula containing [the word] 'hari'. Then fiery energy did not surpass Indra. As for their chanting on verses containing [the word] 'hari', they thereby endow Indra with fiery energy. Indra indeed is the deity closest to the sacrificer. As for their chanting on verses containing [the word] 'hari', they thereby endow the sacrificer with fiery energy and brilliant power. It thrives for him who knows thus.
