On these [verses is] the Śrautakakṣa. Śrutakakṣa Kākṣīvata, desiring cattle, performed tapas. He saw this sāman. He praised with it. He approached this iḷā. Cattle are indeed iḷā. Thereupon he obtained cattle. This is a cattle-winning sāman. Whoever knows thus obtains cattle and becomes rich in cattle. The meter is repeated-struck (punarnitunna). Wherever the gods found the sap of the meters, that they struck again; that they beat upon again. The night is, as it were, sucked out. In that the meter is repeated-struck, they thereby place sap in it. This is the following of sap. And because Śrutakakṣa Kākṣīvata saw it, it is called the Śrautakakṣa. It is the acchāvāka's sāman with iḷā. Cattle are indeed iḷā. Thereby he firmly stands in cattle.
