‘For you, O Agni, an inspired poet, are kindled with Agni by an inspired poet,
being good, a friend by a friend.’
Thus.
And he who desires spiritual luster should sacrifice with this.
He becomes resplendent indeed, endowed with spiritual luster.
Now they say: ‘If the Āhavanīya and the Gārhapatya fires should mingle together, what is the procedure there, what is the expiation?’
He should offer a sacrifice to Agni Vīti.
These same fifteen kindling-verses [are used]; the two butter-portions are the Vṛtra-slaying ones; the two concluding verses are in the Virāj meter.
Then these are the introductory and offering verses:
‘Come, O Agni, to the feast, praised for the giving of oblations;
sit down as Hotṛ on the sacrificial grass.’
Thus.
Then the offering verse:
‘Whoever waits upon Agni with an oblation for the feast of the gods,
to him be gracious, O purifier.’
Thus.
‘To him be gracious, O purifier,’ thus.
