He received it, [saying]: 'At the instigation of divine Savitṛ, with the arms of the Aśvins, with the hands of Pūṣan, I receive you.'
With the limbs of the gods he thus received it.
Having received it, he purified it: / 'May the Vasus purify you with the gāyatrī meter, granting good offspring, granting increase of wealth! / May the Rudras purify you with the traiṣṭubha meter, granting good offspring, granting increase of wealth! / May the Ādityas purify you with the jāgata meter, granting good offspring, granting increase of wealth!'
With the meters and with the deities he thus purified it.
Having purified it, he sets it down behind the axle, [saying]: 'You belong to Bṛhaspati, you are made of wood, the head of Prajāpati, the vessel surpassing longevity.'
When he says, 'You belong to Bṛhaspati,' it is because Bṛhaspati received it at first.
When he says, 'You are made of wood,' it is because they prepare it from trees.
When he says, 'The head of Prajāpati,' it is because this was the head of Prajāpati.
When he says, 'The vessel surpassing longevity,' it is because this vessel surpasses the other vessels.
Because this divine vessel is yoked first and unyoked last, for that reason it surpasses the other vessels.
He obtains a vessel of superior excellence who knows this thus.
Having set it down behind the axle, he sings the Gāyatra sāman upon the Viśvarūpā verses.
