Who has the right to give the portion of the gods? Therefore it must indeed be given offered.’ Just what kind of food a man gives in this world, such is his food in yonder world. And this indeed is the supreme food in yonder world, namely the soma-draught. This soma oblation of his becomes food in yonder world. Speaking the cosmic order (ṛta) and truth, they consume it; for by means of the cosmic order and truth they found it. ‘Cosmic order is immortality,’ he says; for by means of the cosmic order they found that immortality. ‘O yi jvarā oyi jūhā’—these two are the sāman finales, two truths of speech; for by the truth of speech they found it. With this Athodiva Gārgya, Keśin Dārbhya, and Ṛjiśvan Vātavāta sacrificed. Ṛjiśvan Vātavāta fainted away. They sat beside him together with the boy Vṛṣaśuṣma, son of Ṛjiśvan, whose eyes were anointed: ‘If this one comes to harm, we will complete this [sacrifice] through this [boy].’ He swooned away. Having swooned, he went to the other world. In yonder world he came to his father.
