"O dappled one, you are the ocean, inexhaustibleness, the divine brahman, firstborn of truth; you flow with the single syllable, O radiant one, milking immortality over these worlds; as such we know you, O Saramā, shining, inexhaustibleness, burning with brilliance for the gods! You are splendor, you are brightness, you are immortal, you are food, you are great, you are vigor, you are great; as such I know you. In you, such as you are, I place this sacrificial gift, imperishable, unperishing, the prosperity of the gods, wearing great light, the most mighty course of creatures—may I follow it!" This most mighty course, indeed, is that sun up there. It has these two feet: day and night, truth and untruth. Its foot of truth is what the day is. It is named "Over-life." Whoever knows this foot of his, named "Over-life," surpasses others in offspring, cattle, prosperity, fame, and life.
