Now, its multicolored, dappled foot is what the night is. Whoever knows this multicolored, dappled foot of his becomes multifaceted in offspring, cattle, prosperity, fame, and life. Just as one would fan a blazing fire with a fan, so a Brahmin sharpens himself when speaking the truth. He should speak only truth, practice truth, intend truth: he becomes truth itself. And even if a desire for untruth should seize him—either from desire for life, or desire for a woman, or desire for jest, or desire for a friend—he should speak it either at night or in the shade. Thus it does not injure him. For he speaks it in its own realm. "O wide Bekurā..." [The formula continues:] "He, O hesitating one! From the churning, in the sun, your mind; you have become, you have united; you are the clarified butter of the sacrifice; standing on the hearth, standing in the season, standing in the mind; you have entered into the village of the mind; I have brought you; you are delight, you are pleasure; these two are heaven's vigorous, milk-yielding, dappled ones; come, I am ready; I scatter sand before you, I carry calves, the mother of a thousand; we know you, O tall man; tell us this, how it will be!"
