The Trivṛt stoma is indeed brilliance; this sacrifice is fashioned after the Trivṛt stoma; therefore indeed one who desires brilliance should sacrifice with it. Moreover they say: 'Only one who desires spiritual luster should sacrifice with it.' The Trivṛt stoma is indeed brahman; this sacrifice is fashioned after the Trivṛt stoma; therefore indeed one who desires spiritual luster should sacrifice with it. Moreover they say: 'Only one who desires a full life should sacrifice with it.' The Trivṛt stoma is indeed breath. These are nine days; the night is the tenth. Nine are the breaths in man; the navel is the tenth. He wins the breaths with this; he obtains the breaths. As to this they say: 'What does the nine-day rite follow?' He should say: 'The quarters.' The nine-day rite indeed follows the quarters. The four quarters, the four intermediate regions, the upward direction is the ninth, and the downward direction is the tenth. He thrives in the quarters with this; having stood firmly in the quarters, he goes to the heavenly world.
