Now this six-day Pṛṣṭhya period takes place. The pṛṣṭhas are prosperity, the pṛṣṭhas are the summit. Thus they ascend prosperity, the summit, the pṛṣṭhas. Thus they become session-sacrificers. Regarding this they say: 'Those who undertake this six-day Pṛṣṭhya period ascend as it were to the top.' He who, having climbed to the top of a great tree, does not know how to descend, falls into a break, or indeed falls down, or withers up above. That afterwards there is a reversed three-day period is for concealment, for non-affliction, for auspiciousness, for peace. They rise from the day of light, from the well-known stoma of supremacy, [thinking:] 'Having established ourselves in the well-known stoma of supremacy, may we reach the conclusion.' It has twelve chants; twelve months are the year. The year is supremacy; it has no rival. [They think:] 'Having established ourselves in the rival-less stoma of supremacy, may we reach the conclusion.' The concluding Atirātra is sacred to Vaiśvānara; for ahīna Soma sacrifices have their conclusion sacred to Vaiśvānara.
