Now this six-day Pṛṣṭhya period takes place. The pṛṣṭhas are prosperity, the pṛṣṭhas are the summit. Thus they ascend prosperity, the summit, the pṛṣṭhas. Thus they become session-sacrificers. Regarding this they say: 'Those who undertake this six-day Pṛṣṭhya period mount upon a superior.' That afterwards there is a reversed six-day Pṛṣṭhya period is for concealment, for non-affliction, for auspiciousness, for peace. Yet they censure this of him, when undertaking they undertake the six-day Pṛṣṭhya period thus. The concluding Atirātra is sacred to Vaiśvānara; for ahīna Soma sacrifices have their conclusion sacred to Vaiśvānara. Now these stomas are the light, cow, and life. These stomas—light, cow, and life—are indeed auspicious, peaceful, and beneficial. [They think:] 'Those stomas which are auspicious, peaceful, and beneficial, with them let our praise be chanted.' They amount to the Virāj. Thus they take hold of the Virāj, which is food. If someone mounts upon a superior without an agreement, [the superior] injures him. With whatever affliction he desires for him, to that he leads him. But if one mounts upon him in accordance with an agreement, having reached an understanding, he does not injure him. That these stomas are the light, cow, and life, that is just as if one were to mount upon a superior in accordance with an agreement, having reached an understanding.
