Then this has the form of a five-day rite. That is not truly a twenty-one-night rite which is the central day. What central day is that in which there are no Viśvajit and Abhijit? In that there are Viśvajit and Abhijit, [it is with the intention]: 'May we prosper through the complete central day; may the complete central day be undertaken by us.' Regarding this, they say: 'Those who undertake these nights ascend to what is superior.' In that the reverse five-day period is on the other side, it is for concealment, for non-injury, for auspiciousness, for peace. The concluding Atirātra is addressed to Vaiśvānara, for sacrifices lasting more than one day have their conclusion in Vaiśvānara.
