the twenty-first. This indeed is divine dominion, and the ruler is the giver of food. [Thinking,] 'May he who is the giver of food bestow food upon us,' [they perform it]. Then there are these four three-day periods: twelve days. Twelve indeed are the full-moon days of the year. This is the measure of the full-moon days, the prosperity of the full-moon days. Then there is this pṛṣṭhya six-day period. The pṛṣṭhas are prosperity; the pṛṣṭhas are the summit. Thus they mount to prosperity, to the summit, to the pṛṣṭhas. And thereby they become session-sacrificers. Then there are these four subsequent three-day periods: just twelve days. Twelve indeed are the new-moon days of the year. This is the measure of the new-moon days, the prosperity of the new-moon days. Twelve are these days before the pṛṣṭhya six-day period, twelve are after it. Therefore the full-moon days and the new-moon days of the year are equal in number. The concluding Atirātra is sacred to Vaiśvānara, for non-interrupted Soma rites conclude with Vaiśvānara.
