They discuss: 'Is [a day] to be omitted, or is it not to be omitted?'
Regarding this they say: 'It is indeed to be omitted.'
He who travels without unyoking either breaks down or comes to ruin.
Those who do not omit [days] travel, as it were, without unyoking.
When they omit the full-moon days, it is for security.
He who pours into what is full, that either spills over or scatters.
Full, indeed, is this year.
When they omit the full-moon days, it is for security.

Full, indeed, is this year.
When they omit the full-moon days, they thereby make room for the semen, for generation.
From what is deficient, indeed, the breaths stir.
Prajāpati, indeed, is this year.
His breaths are these full-moon days.
When they omit the full-moon days, they omit the breaths of Prajāpati himself.
The gods, indeed, have the full-moon stoma.
When they omit the full-moon days, [they think:] 'Who can chant praise against the gods?'
