tatpañcaviṃśaṃ kṛtvā stuvate vratasyānatiṣṭavāya yadveva prati bhūtecchandasāṃvratena
stuvate
harī ta indra śmaśrūṇyuto te haritā harī
taṃ tvā stuvanti kāravaḥ puruṣāso vanargavaḥ
ṛddhyāsa indra bhuṅṅiti maghavannindra bhuṅṅiti
indrastrasarapūtaḥ
sphigi punaḥpunastrasarasphigir
iti
etāvaddha vā asyaikamaṅgamanāstutamāsa yatsphigau
anāstutenainamaṅgena stuvanti
ṛddhiṣṇavo ha bhavantyenena tuṣṭuvānāḥ
tadāhuḥ kasmai kaṃ parimādaḥ kriyanta iti
yathā ha vai śārada ukṣaivaṃ mahāvratam
sa yathā śāradamukṣāṇaṃ vāgarābhiḥ
paritatyālabherannevamevaitatparimādbhirmahāvratamālabhante vratasyāprakṣayāya
atho yathaivedaṃ puruṣasya keśā nakhā lomāni śmaśrūṇi tathaivāsyaitaditi
atho yadevedaṃ puruṣamabhito gauraśvo'jāvirvrīhayo yavāstadevāsyaitaditi

Having made it twenty-five-fold, they chant for the non-interruption of the vrata. Or rather, they chant with the vrata corresponding to the being of the meters: / 'Tawny are your beard, O Indra, and tawny are your two bay horses; / you the poets praise, men dwelling in the woods.' / 'May you prosper, O Indra, enjoy!' 'O bounteous Indra, enjoy!' / 'Indra, purified through the shuttle, / with the buttocks, again and again the buttocks through the shuttle.' / For this indeed was his one limb that had not been chanted upon, namely, the buttocks. / With the unchanted limb they chant upon him. / Those who chant with this become prosperous. / Regarding this they say: 'For what purpose are the parimāds performed?' / As an autumn ox is, even so is the Mahāvrata. / Just as they would seize an autumn ox by surrounding it with snares, even so do they seize this Mahāvrata with parimāds for the non-decay of the vrata. / Moreover, just as here a man's hair, nails, body-hair, and beard are, even so is this of it. / Moreover, just as around a man are cow, horse, goat, sheep, rice, and barley, even so is this of it.
