They said to Āruṇi, “You indeed are our teacher; speak first!”
He said, “I worship the Gāyatrī as the dear. Breath indeed is the Gāyatrī; breath indeed is the dear. There is nothing dearer than breath. He who thus worships this Gāyatrī as the dear, just as breath is dear to one’s self, so does he become dear to fame, so dear to the eye, so dear to gain.”
Then Jīvala Kārīrādi said, “I worship the Triṣṭubh as prosperity. The nobility indeed is the Triṣṭubh; the nobility indeed is prosperity. He who thus worships this Triṣṭubh as prosperity, in whatever region he is, he becomes the best of it; even kings revere him from below.”
Then Aṣāḍha Sāvayasa said, “I worship the Jagatī as abundance, as procreation. Abundance and procreation among the meters is indeed the Jagatī. He who thus worships this Jagatī as abundance, as procreation, goes to abundance through offspring and cattle; wherever he is born among his kinsmen, he becomes the leader there.”
Then Indradyumna Bhāllaveya said, “I worship the Anuṣṭubh as glory. Speech indeed is the Anuṣṭubh; speech indeed is glory. Speech moves above and beyond others as fame. He who thus worships this Anuṣṭubh as glory, this very speech of his, the Anuṣṭubh, spreading out, moves above and beyond others as fame; he becomes indeed an authority.”
