With it he secured food from all the directions, [saying]: “It has stood here, it has stood here!” One who desires food should recite it four times. There are four directions; he secures food from the directions. Now, one who desires the heavenly world should recite it three times. Three indeed are these worlds, for the attainment of these worlds. Now, the Arkapuṣpa. Arka, indeed, is food; this is its flower, which is wild. For that is born in the wilderness, for the attainment of wild food. The gods, indeed, desiring heaven, performed austerity. They saw these two sāmans; with them they praised. Thereupon, indeed, they attained the heavenly world. These two are heaven-bestowing sāmans. He attains the heavenly world who knows thus. Just as yonder tracks are seen after rain, even so the heavenly world was seen by these two. And they are heaven-bestowing. He attains the heavenly world who knows thus.
