tamasmim̐lloke pratinidhāya pañcadaśenordhva udakrāmat
so'gacchadyatraiṣa vāyuḥ
tattadvasṛjato eva rudrān
anvime samagacchannabhyabhī samapatan
tamattumevādhriyanta
sa ṣakṣata hantordhva evotkrāmāṇīti
sa vāyumevaitasmim̐lloke pratinidhāya saptadaśenordhva udakrāmat
so'gacchadyatraiṣa candramāḥ
tattadvasṛjato evādityān
anvime samagacchannabhyamī samapatan
tamattumevādhriyanta
sa ṣakṣata hantordhva evotkrāmāṇīti

Having placed him in this world as a substitute, he ascended upward with the fifteenfold [stoma]. He went to where Vāyu is. There he created the Rudras. These [creatures] followed along and rushed upon him. They resolved to eat him. He considered: 'Come, let me ascend upward.' Having placed Vāyu in this world as a substitute, he ascended upward with the seventeenfold [stoma]. He went to where the moon is. There he created the Ādityas. These [creatures] followed along and rushed upon him. They resolved to eat him. He considered: 'Come, let me ascend upward.'
