'Agni who increases for you...'
—for this day is increased, since it belongs to the Bṛhat.

On these [verses is chanted] the Saindhukṣita.

Sindhukṣit indeed saw the end of speech.

They seek speech through this day; through this they find it.

Sindhukṣit Bhārata was an exiled king; as he wandered for a long time, he desired: 'May I go

to my own home.'

He wandered along the Indus (Sindhu).

That is the condition of being Sindhukṣit ('dwelling along the Indus').

He saw this sāman.

With it he chanted praise.

Thereupon he went to his own home.

This sāman is a granter of desires.
