2-3.50

Of the Go and the Āyus, six exceed. Twelve Agniṣṭomas are the ten-day period. The day of the Mahāvrata is an Agniṣṭoma. Six of the Atirātra exceed. He places those six into that. That is an Agniṣṭoma. Twelve times they perform the Ṣoḍaśin. That is an Agniṣṭoma. If, however, they perform the Ṣoḍaśin on an Atirātra, they confuse that Virāj-correspondence; he is deprived of this Agniṣṭoma-correspondence. That thunderbolt without a resting-place injures him. Indeed, it is a thunderbolt without a resting-place. This year is one of equal beginning and equal fastening. Its beginning is mind itself; speech is the fastening. This very year corresponds to the Agniṣṭomas. By correspondence, it becomes an Agniṣṭomāyana. And those days that are manifold in the year are attained. By this course, indeed, he attains both desires: both that which is in the Agniṣṭomāyana and that which is in the month with the pṛṣṭha.
