"These are the Ādityas, for they go along taking up (ādadānāḥ) all this. Therefore [they are called] Ādityas.
'Which are the three?'
'These worlds.'
'Which are the two?'
'Day and night.'
'Which is Indra, and which is Prajāpati?'
'Speech is Indra, the mind is Prajāpati.'
'Which is the one deity?'
'Breath.'
He said: 'You have asked beyond a deity that is not to be asked beyond; you will die before such and such a day, nor will your bones reach home.'
And it was indeed so: he died just so. Highway robbers carried off his bones, thinking them to be something else. Therefore one should not speak ill [in debate], for even one who knows thus may be surpassed."
