2-3.82

Yet they also say: 'It is indeed procreative. Food is the Virāj. From what is eaten, semen is emitted; from semen, offspring are born; therefore it is indeed procreative.' Moreover, they say: 'Having made the Acchāvāka's [stoma] eighteenfold, one should make the Ārbhava twenty-versed and the Agniṣṭomasāman twenty-one-versed.' And thus he is firmly established at the end of the stotras on the well-known twenty-one-fold stoma. Now this Śada: Āditya indeed desired, 'Having shed all evil, may I ascend to the heavenly world.' He saw this sacrifice. He brought it forth. He sacrificed with it. Thereupon indeed, having shed all evil, he ascended to the heavenly world. That [sun] over there shines, with its evil destroyed. He who knows thus ascends to the heavenly world having shed all evil. And because one stoma verse falls off one by one, therefore it is [called] Śada.
