Now these are the stomas: Jyotis, Gauḥ, Āyus.
Gauḥ mounted Āyus;
thence Jyotis was born.
This world is Āyus; yonder world is Gauḥ; this intermediate space is Jyotis.
They two placed him in front, just as [parents place] a son.
For this world is upward from here, and yonder world is downward from there.
This light (jyotis) is held around in front of the two; by it we see.
Approaching their union, the two pushed out the Jyotis toward the end.
Just as two parents would follow behind a son going ahead, such is that.
These become paired stomas when they are yoked.
A son lies in the middle of wife and husband;
just as they two, being about to unite, would set aside their son to this side or that, such indeed is this.
These deficient and redundant stomas are a pair [fit] for procreation.
He who desires, 'May I be propagated abundantly with offspring and cattle,' should sacrifice with these.
He is propagated abundantly with offspring and cattle.
