He said: 'Shall we sacrifice with this sacrifice as an even one, or as an uneven one?' 'As an even one,' they said. Because they said 'as an even one,' they made rain even, they made the realm even, they made agreement. Now if they had said 'as an uneven one,' rain would have become uneven, the realm would have become uneven, there would have been disagreement. 'By what shall we agree?' 'By the Yajñāyajñīya.' Therefore they agree only through the Yajñāyajñīya. The Yajñāyajñīya is speech; these worlds are speech; with speech they ascended to speech. They gave three hundred and thirty-three on the first day; through that, Agni prospered in this world. They gave three hundred and thirty-three on the second day; through that, Vāyu prospered in this intermediate world. They gave three hundred and thirty-three on the third day; through that, Āditya prospered in yonder world. He who, knowing thus, sacrifices with this sacrificial rite, prospers in these deities and attains these worlds.
