The seasons, the year, ripen all food; they approach that food as won by the year. The Mahāvrata is twenty-five-fold; food is twenty-five-fold, for the attainment of food. The Atirātra contains all stomas, for winning and overstepping all worlds; for all this is indeed the stomas. And [they think:] 'Those stomas which we have approached one by one, having accomplished them together, having been established in them, may we reach the conclusion.' Now, for him who has this three-day rite consisting of the Trivṛt, Pañcadaśa, and Saptadaśa [stomas], the twenty-five-fold Mahāvrata, and the all-stoma Atirātra—one desiring food should sacrifice with it. Regarding this, they say: 'The Mahāvrata is not to be undertaken before a year.' As to this three-day rite consisting of the Trivṛt, Pañcadaśa, and Saptadaśa: this world is the Trivṛt, this [intermediate world] is the Pañcadaśa, yonder [world] is the Saptadaśa. These worlds are the seasons, the year. And [they think:] 'Those stomas which we have approached one by one, having accomplished them together, having been established in them, may we reach the conclusion.'
