And the third month, that is the prosperity of the thirteenth month. When they sacrifice, when they sit for a sacrificial session, they desire to prosper the year, they desire to obtain the year. For there is nothing whatsoever outside of the year. These nights are autonomous rule (svārājya): since there are forty-nine, twenty-four days beyond and twenty-four on this side. The year has twenty-four half-months. This year is indeed arranged on both sides. The day which is in the middle is the autonomous ruler, it is the heavenly world. Thereby they go to the summit of the sun, they go to autonomous rule; thereby they become not to be followed by another. These nights correspond to the Jagatī alone. Cattle are indeed the Jagatī. Thereby this sacrificial session is rich in cattle; they also attain the Virāj. And so they attain sovereignty and supreme power over the Virāj, which is proper food. The Virāj is deficient by one; that is the deficiency belonging to a woman, from which she gives birth; thereby it is propagation. And they attain the Gāyatrī through the consecrations, the upasads, and the pressing days. The Gāyatrī is breath; thereby this sacrificial session confers long life. The Gāyatrī is fiery splendor; thereby they become full of fiery splendor and spiritual luster. The Gāyatrī is preeminence; thereby they stand firmly in preeminence without a rival.
