2.270

When the seed-[verse] is being praised, he should unite the waters with the mind; between them he should cause the mind of the sacrificer to enter. Breath is the human yoke-pin, wind is the divine yoke-pin; when the Gāyatrī is being praised, he should unite the wind with breath; between them he should cause the breath of the sacrificer to enter. The eye is the human yoke-pin, the sun is the divine yoke-pin; when the Triṣṭubh is being praised, he should unite the sun with the eye; between them he should cause the eye of the sacrificer to enter. The ear is the human yoke-pin, the quarters are the divine yoke-pin; when the Jagatī is being praised, he should unite the quarters with the ear; between them he should cause the ear of the sacrificer to enter. Speech is the human yoke-pin, the earth is the divine yoke-pin; when the Anuṣṭubh is being praised, he should unite the earth with speech; between them he should cause the speech of the sacrificer to enter. In this way indeed he unites the divine yoke-pins and the human yoke-pins. Having thus united the divine yoke-pins and the human yoke-pins, he crosses over that death which is in the heavenly world; one who knows thus does not die again. He unites himself with the deities.

by what have you outstudied us?

2.270.p8

In that you are so beloved of fame, so beloved of the eye, so beloved of gain, by what have you

2.270.p9

attained this?'

2.270.p10

He said: 'I revere it in the yoke-pins.'

2.270.p11

'What do you revere in the yoke-pins?'

2.270.p12

'The beloved.'

2.270.p13

'What does he become who reveres their beloved?'

2.270.p14

'He becomes beloved of fame, beloved of the eye, beloved of gain.'

2.270.p15

'Just so you are,' they said.

2.270.p16

Then they said to Jīvala Kārīrādi: 'In that you alone are the foremost of that region,

2.270.p17

in which you are, and even kings attend upon you from below, by what have you attained this?'

2.270.p18

He said: 'I revere it in the yoke-pins.'
