dyauṣ te pṛṣtham rakṣatu
vāyuṣ ūrū aśvinau ca /
stanam-dhayān te putrān savitā abhi-rakṣatu
ā vāsasas pari-dhānāt bṛhas-patiṣ
viśve devās abhi-rakṣantu paścāt // svāhā //
May Heaven protect your back,
may Vāyu protect the thighs, and the two Aśvins!
May Savitṛ protect your suckling sons;
until the putting on of the garment, may Bṛhaspati,
may the All-Gods protect [them] from behind! // svāhā
