abhūt nas dūtas haviṣas jāta-vedās
avāṭ havyāni su-rabhīṇi kṛtvā /
pra-adāt pitṛbhyas svadhayā te akṣan
pra-jānan agne punar ā-ihi yonim //
Jātavedas has become our messenger for the oblation; / he has conveyed the oblations, having made them fragrant. / He gave them to the ancestors; with svadhā they ate. / Knowing [the way], O Agni, come back to your seat!
