Svāhā to Soma accompanied by the ancestors!

Svāhā to Agni, the bearer of funeral offerings!

Driven away are the Asuras and the rakṣases who sit on the altar!

Those Asuras who, assuming forms, / move about according to their own will, / who carry away the outer cities and the inner cities: / may Agni expel them from this world.

Come, O Soma-loving ancestors, / by deep, ancient paths; / grant us good riches here, / and bestow upon us wealth rich in all heroes.

Here, O ancestors, exhilarate yourselves; / take your pleasure, each according to his share!

The ancestors have exhilarated themselves; / they have taken their pleasure, each according to his share.

Homage to you, O ancestors, for life! / Homage to you, O ancestors, for vigor!

Homage to you, O ancestors, for the dread! / Homage to you, O ancestors, for the essence!

Homage to you, O ancestors, for the funeral offering! / Homage to you, O ancestors, for wrath!

Homage to you, O ancestors! O ancestors, homage to you!

Give us houses, O ancestors!

We give you a seat, O ancestors!

This is your garment, O ancestors!

Bearing nourishment, immortality, clarified butter, milk, / sweet beverage, and foamy drink, you are funeral offerings. / Satisfy my ancestors!

Implant an embryo, O ancestors: / a boy wearing a lotus garland, / that here a man may be.

Jātavedas has become our messenger for the oblation; / he has conveyed the oblations, having made them fragrant. / He gave them to the ancestors; with svadhā they ate. / Knowing [the way], O Agni, come back to your seat!

Convey the omentum, O Jātavedas, to the ancestors / where you know them deposited far away. / May streams of fat flow toward them; / may their hopes and desires come true! Svāhā!

O Jātavedas, go to the gods with the omentum; / for you were the first Hotṛ. / May the omentum offered by me be true; / may what I do here prosper.

Whatever debt was unpaid by me here, / by which deposit of Yama I wander, / free from debt regarding that do I become here, O Agni; / while still living I give that back to you.

The Ekāṣṭakā, performing austerity with heat, / gave birth to an embryo, the majestic Indra; / with him the gods overcame their enemies; / he became the slayer of the Asuras through his powers.
