prāṇa eva paśubandhaḥ tasmādyāvajjīvati nāsyānyaḥ paśūnāmīṣṭe baddhā hyāsminnete bhavanti
The animal sacrifice, indeed, is the breath, whence, as long as one lives, no other has power over his cattle, for they are tied to him.
