yád agne tápasā tápa upatapyā́mahe tápaḥ |
priyā́ḥ śrutásya bhūyāsmā́yuṣmantaḥ sumedhásaḥ ||1||
In that, O Agni, penance with penance, we perform additional (?) penance, may we be dear to what is heard, long-lived, very wise.
