Meaning: 'he haṃsagate'—O she whose gait is like that of a swan! In that vocative address; 'yatra'—in which metre; 'dvitīyamapi'—the second half as well; 'āryāyāḥ pūrvārdhena samam'—equal to the first half of an āryā metre; 'bhavati'—is; 'he amṛtavāṇi'—O she whose speech is like nectar, in that vocative address; 'chandovidaḥ'—those versed in prosody; 'tadānīm'—then; 'tāṃ gītim'—that metre named gīti; 'bhāṣante'—call. In the quarter-verses of the gīti metre the morae in order are 12-18-12-18. (5)
