kṣuramanumantrayate kṣuro nāmāsi svadhitiste pitā namaste astu mā mā hiṃsīḥ iti upyamānamanumantrayate yatkṣureṇa vṛścayasi vaptā vapasi keśaśmaśru varcayā me mukhaṃ mā ma āyuḥ pramoṣīḥ iti \
He recites over the razor: 'Razor is your name; an axe is your father; homage to you, do not injure me.' He recites over [the hair] being shaved: 'As you, the shearer, shave the hair and beard with the razor, make my face bright; do not steal away my life.'
