oṣadhim antardhāya cchinatti na nakhena pavitre stho vaiṣṇavyāv iti.
Putting an herb between (them and the instrument with which he cuts them), he cuts them off, not with his nail, with (the words), 'Purifiers are ye, sacred to Vishnu.'
