ādahane tūṣṇīṃ nidhāya dakṣiṇasyāṃ diśi dakṣiṇāpravaṇe dakṣiṇāprākpravaṇena vā apeta vīta iti palāśaśākhayā triḥ parilikhya vāstau hiraṇyaśakalaṃ nidhāya dehi yamarāja vāstvasmā itthaṃnāmadheyāya iti gṛhītvā vāstu prāg dakṣiṇāṃ citiṃ citvā \\13\\

At the cremation-ground, having placed [the items] silently, in the southern quarter, on a site sloping to the south or sloping to the south-east, having drawn lines around three times with a palāśa branch with: "Go away, depart...", having placed a piece of gold on the site, having taken the site with: "Give, King Yama, a site to this one named so-and-so", having built the funeral pyre facing east or south,
