mhaṇoni ayuktapaṇa manāceṃ |
teṃci sarvasva duḥkhāceṃ |
yā kāraṇeṃ iṃdriyāṃceṃ |
damana nikeṃ ||

Therefore, the uncontrolled state of the mind
is itself the whole of misery;
for this reason, the restraint of the senses
is excellent.
