mī sakaḷāṃ yajñāṃcā ādi |
āṇi yajanā yā mīci avadhi |
kīṃ māteṃ cukoni durbuddhi |
devāṃ bhajale ||

I am the beginning of all sacrifices, / and I alone am the ultimate goal of worship; / yet, missing me, through faulty understanding, / they worship other gods.
