It is not for one day or two days; from the day I was born in this world / up to this day, broken by unending worry, / bearing unceasing distress, my heart weary, / resembling a bow whose precious string has snapped— / showing compassion upon this slave, saying here, “Fear not!” / and supporting me, truly there is no one except you. / Needing not even two nāḻikais of time, able to fashion this entire / universe in a moment and bestow grace—possessing such power, / is it hard for you to remove the distress of poor me and grant your grace? / Praised by great ones such as the approaching Nāvalūrar, living in Tirukkaṭavūr where sweet fame grows, / O Vāmī! Śubanemi! Pugazhnāmi! / Vāmī in whom Śivasāmi delights! O Apirāmi, Umai!
