فلما رأني عجبت مما يحكيه من كثرة هذا الإنفاق والبسطة من المواهب والأطلاق، قال: وهو مع هذه السعة المفرطة في بذل الإعطاء، لا ينفق نصف دخل بلاده.

When he saw me marvelling at what he related of this abundant spending and lavishness of gifts and largesse, he said: Yet for all this excessive generosity in giving, he does not spend half the revenue of his lands.
