وأهل هذا الجبل يشبهون الترك، ولهم قوة على الخدمة، والغلام منهم يساوي أضعاف ما يساويه الغلام من غيرهم، وهم مشهورون بمعاناة السحر، والاشتغال به، وكان قصدي بالمسير إلى هذه الجبال لقاء ولي من الأولياء بها، وهو الشيخ جلال الدين التبريزي .

The people of these mountains resemble the Turks and have great capacity for work; a slave from among them is worth several times what a slave of other peoples is worth. They are famous for practising magic and devoting themselves to it. My purpose in travelling to these mountains was to meet one of the saints living there, Shaykh Jalāl al-Dīn al-Tabrīzī.
