ولما بلغنا إلى مدينة كول بلغنا أن بعض كفار الهنود حاصروا بلدة الجلالي وأحاطوا بها وهي على مسافة سبعة أميال من كول فقصدناها، والكفار يقاتلون أهلها، وقد أشرفوا على التلف، ولم يعلم الكفار بنا حتى صدقنا الحملة عليهم، وهم في نحو ألف فارس وثلاثة آلاف راجل، فقتلناهم عن آخرهم واحتوينا على خيلهم وأسلحتهم، واستشهد من أصحابنا ثلاثة وعشرون فارسا وخمسة وخمسون راجلا، واستشهد الفتى كافور الساقي الذي كانت الهدية مسلمة بيده، فكتبنا إلى السلطان بخبره، وأقمنا في انتظار الجواب.

When we reached the city of Kūl, news came to us that some of the Hindu infidels had besieged the town of al-Jalālī and surrounded it; it lies seven miles from Kūl. We made for it while the infidels were fighting its people, who were near to perishing. The infidels knew nothing of us until we charged them in earnest. They numbered about a thousand horsemen and three thousand foot; we killed them to the last man and took their horses and weapons. Of our company twenty-three horsemen and fifty-five foot fell as martyrs, and the eunuch Kāfūr the cupbearer, into whose hands the gift had been entrusted, was martyred. We wrote to the Sultan with news of him and stayed awaiting the reply.
