وكان من كبار التجار أيضا بها نجم الدين الجيلاني وكان حسن الصورة كثير المال وبنى بها دارا عظيمة ومسجدا ثم بعث السلطان عنه وأمره عليها وأعطاه المراتب . فكان ذلك سبب تلف نفسه وماله.

Also among its great merchants was Najm al-Dīn al-Jīlānī, a handsome man of great wealth, who built a great house and a mosque there. Then the Sultan sent for him, made him amīr over it and granted him the insignia of rank. That was the cause of the loss of his life and his wealth.
